Chad Wadsworth, Artisan of Imagery
“We are all photographers at heart, with an infinite capacity to capture and create scenes from our personal vision. You don’t need a camera; you just need to see.”
Introduction to Work – Born as a companion to the longest running music television show in US history (Austin City Limits), the Austin City Limits music festival is held each fall on the grounds of Zilker Park. Launched in 2002, the festival has grown and evolved into a two weekend affair with over 450,000 attendees in 2015.
Hailing from Austin, TX, our US Ambassador Chad Wadsworth has been covering the festival for the past decade and presents his work from the crowd, photo pits and stage. His reportage style focuses not just on the artists but on the emotions and moments that make festivals an essential part of today’s music experience.
About / Biography
In a moment of prescience, a young Chad Wadsworth professed to his high school instructor a desire to make music photography in the vein of iconic work by photographers like Jim Marshall and Anton Corbijn. Years later he put that plan in motion and for the past decade, his vibrant and emotive photography has captured intimate moments from the stage, tour bus and green rooms of the legendary Austin, TX music scene. With a background in analog photography dating back to that high school class, his affinity for the traditional medium greatly influences the unique signature of his digital work.
Restless for new scenes, Chad also works in architectural and editorial and is a Global Red Bull Photographer, documenting hot emerging musicians, Formula One drivers and X-Game athletes.
