Today we're going to trip back into time. Opening week in São Paulo seems like a decade ago but I shot something in those early days, I never had a chance to share. Welcome to the Minhocão! It roughly means the "Big Worm". In this case it's the nickname of the Via Elevada Presidente Costa e Silva, a four-lane highway slicing its way through the high-rises of São Paulo. But on Sundays, the city stops the traffic completely and the Minhocão becomes a social gathering place. A group of teenagers on one side. A family playing football on the other. Runners. Bikers. Skaters. Everyone shares the 2 miles of concrete and makes it their own. On that note, Happy 4th of July!
