Love and Fear
The walls of my daughter’s nursery are brightly decorated with affirmations of love, friendship and community. As she grows up, I know the messages around her will change. On the tube in London, I observe the messages being broadcast to me. "Machete Murder in Park Full of Playing Children”. How our messages change. Fear assaults us yet most of us continue to search for that childhood innocence.
In an attempt to alter my adult reality of constant fear, I spent an afternoon in Brixton recently with my camera, meditating, trying to replicate the feelings of love and peace I feel when photographing in the natural wild. This project has yielded a world in two tones – love and fear.
